Enforce R&D and innovation, improve skill standard of bicycle industry, accelerate industry upgrade, and establish globalized  manufacture, marketing and management, have always been operational targets for our bicycle industry. Amidst fierce pressure caused by international competitiveness, it's essential for bicycle sectors to keep continuous R&D, and raise international competence.

To encourage local bicycle makers, promote their new products, as well as extend excellent R&D experiences and promote devotion to R&D, Taiwan Bicycle Exporters "Association has hosted "Innovative Bicycles, Parts & Accessories" campaigns and awards since 1991.

Based on the standard of 30% for originality, 30% for practicality, 20% for price and 20% for safety, 20 out of 51 innovative products made by 40 manufacturers were carefully, fairly and strictly selected.

As the concept of the "Knowledge economy" has won widespread acceptance, we have come under more pressure to come up with innovative, differentiated products. Although everyone is stying to innovate all the time, it is fortunate to have this wonderful opportunity here in Taiwan every year. We can bring together many innovative products, and use our judging standards to select the very best ones. No one cares if they win or lose, because the TBEA Innobike Awards keep the innovation mechanism working throughout Taiwan's cycle industry. So long as this exists, we can be sure that Taiwanese bicycles will continue to thrive and enjoy sustainability.

Twenty products from 17 manufacturers won prizes at the 2003 TBEA Innobike Awards. This year three special awards were still added: the Special Innovation Award, Special Practicality Award, and Special Economy Award.

SEC - ADS, Anti-Dive System

The ADS offers positive power dependent on the velocity of the bike and will compensate for negative acceleration.

In a traditional MTB, the stem sag is caused by front brakes, because negative acceleration will create mass momentum. It is not in the design of a suspension fork to absorb such momentum. The unnecessary sag will endanger a riden if the front brake is pulled too hard to control the bike.

SR Suntour - Travel Adjustment Suspension Fork

This new ride height adjusting system comes from air pressure controlled by an exchange from positive air to negative air.

This fork also has a hydraulic suspension lock out system.

Riding uphill causes the fork height to get shorter, and riding downhill makes the fork height taller, adding convenience.

A rider can choose to disengage the suspension when smooth pedaling on flat road is desired. Both functions are controlled by control lever on the handle bar.

Formula - Suspension Front Wheel

The Suspension front wheel is suitable for non-suspension fork bikes such as road and track bikes.

The Suspension front wheel is developed to with a suspension trave of l 6~8mm on the hub to absorb the small vibration caused by small stones or rough road surface in order to increase the comfort while riding.

¡@Front derailleur shifting power comes from pedaling not from hand power, so front derailleur shifting is very light.

This system has a one-hand shifting control. Rear derailleur and front derailleur are both easily controlled by a single hand shifter.

Efun Mini Folding Device

This unique folding device is composed of two parts that can be welded to the frame of a folding bicycle. Each part has a protrusion and a groove inside. When connected, the protrusion and groove lock to each other. The opening and closing is easy and requires only moving these two parts linearly approximately 3mm. This device is stronger than a bike frame tube and has minimum force applied to either hinge or locking mechanism. It is extremely tight and much lighter than the square box type folding device that is currently on the market.
